Technical Skills Needed in Yakima

Two weeks ago, the West Valley School District, AJAC - Aerospace Join Apprentoceship Committee, Computing for All, and Microsoft Imagine Academy came together to learn about the unique technical skills facing a highly evolving agriculture industry.

Tours included Allan Bros Fruit, the City and County of Yakima, and the Farm Workers Clinic of Central Washington.

The ultimate goal is learning how West Valley can leverage our unique Microsoft Imagine Academy partnership with Career Connect Washington to place students in high need Ag-Tech careers.

Data Science and SQL Database Management is a resounding need as fruit packers are cataloging hundreds of thousands of apples, cherries, pears, and more.  With West Valley beginning Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Certification in Junior High, we are a close match to being training and placing high school students in high demand careers.
